His Excellency, John W. Yanta, Bishop of Amarillo has entrusted a special project to the Sisters to visit African American members of St. Martin's Parish in Amarillo, Texas. This parish was begun as a mission in the 1940's to serve the needs of African American Catholics in the area. This outreach is part of a study requested by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops for The Black and Native American Annual National Collection.
Sister Rita, coordinator for the project, assisted by other Sisters, will visit parishoners both to compile a history of the church and as a means to evangelize and bring members back to the Sacraments. The Sisters hope to complete this project by December of this year. Please keep this outreach in your prayers!
