"Be vigilant! Be critical!
Don't be dragged along by the wave produced
by this powerful movement of persuasion."
Pope Benedict XVI
GO AGAINST THE CURRENT!
This was the theme of the 2008 Diocesan Youth Rally in Amarillo, Texas. As in years past, the Disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ were present for the youth of our diocese at this annual event.
The Rally was mainly for 6th.-8th grade young people, but High School students also attended. The Rally was at the Civic Center, and was an outreach of the Diocesan Youth Ministry Office.
The Rally provided for the youth a well balanced range of activities, including Mass, rosary, adoration, inspirational talks, praise and worship, a concert and an outing to a local amusement park. The youth had an opportunity for rejoicing in their Catholic identity and also for having fellowship with their peers in a faith-filled environment.
This year Sister Juliana, Sister Maria Crucis, Sister Christine Marie, and Sister Stella Maris were at the Rally on Saturday, April 19, as a religious presence, to plant the seeds of vocations, and to support the youth attending this retreat.
Our prayer is that the young people of our diocese will continue to experience God's love and have a personal encounter with Jesus Christ the Lord, which would transform their lives. Join us in prayer for this intention!
