October 20, 2006
Four women from around the country will visit Prayer Town this weekend, October 20-22, 2006. They will have a chance to experience what life is like in the convent. Sister Juana Teresa, who is in charge of our vocation office, has a busy schedule prepared for the participants. After all the women arrive on Friday afternoon, we will all gather in our Mother House chapel to Praise and Worship the Lord in song during our weekly Prayer Meeting. In the evening, the women will have a chance to meet in small groups with the professed Sisters to hear the individual Sister's vocation testimonies. Saturday is a busy day of talks given by different Sisters on topics ranging from the history of the DLJC community to religious life in general and how to discern one's vocation. The most important time on any retreat is coming before the Lord in prayer and our guests will have time to spend before the Blessed Sacrament during a Holy Hour. Saturday is a special day in the community as we will celebrate the 20th anniversary of vows of Sister Juliana and Sister Anthony. His Excellency, Bishop Yanta, Bishop of Amarillo, will celebrate Sunday Vigil Mass at Prayer Town for this event. Saturday evening the women will join our Bishop and the Sisters for a special dinner followed by a time of fellowship for all. Sunday is a day of prayer for the community and the Blessed Sacrament will be exposed for the entire day. Our guests are encouraged to spend time before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. By early afternoon on Sunday, the women will head back to their homes. We hope and pray that this weekend will bring each of them a deeper peace as they continue to seek the Lord's will for their lives. Please keep all of these women in your prayers as well!
