Mother Lucy also attended the board meeting of the CMSWR on October 5th prior to the General Assembly. She was elected last year for a term of three years.
Among the many distinguished speakers at the Assembly was His Emminence Cardinal Walter Kasper, president of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity in Rome. He is also president for the Commission for Religious Relations with the Jews.
Cardinal Kasper indicated that those involved in the Charismatic Renewal are in the best place to dialogue with Pentecostals and Evangelicals because of the common experience of being Baptized in the Holy Spirit. Catholic Charismatics can become the "bridge" between Pentecostals and Catholics.
Our Sisters gained much insight from the talks as well expanded their vision of the role of CMSWR and the call of women religious in the Church who are called to be in the forefront by proclaiming Jesus as Lord and remaining faithful to the teachings of the magisterium.
Father Henry Lemoncelli who is the liaison for Religious in the US at the Congregation for Consecrated Life in Rome gave the Sisters pratical ways to grow in holiness.
The Sisters returned home with tapes of the teachings that will enrich the whole community.
